Samatva Vidhya
The Challenge
Slum settlement, a direct result of rapid worldwide urbanization, is a common site in most developing countries.bangalore is among the top cities in India with a high number of slums are broad social and health disadvantages to children and their families due to extreme poverty, overcrowding, poor water and sanitation, substandard housing, limited access to basic health and education services, and other hardships( for example, high unemployment, and violence). Despite the magnitude of this problem, very little actions have been taken to provide mitigation to children’s situations in the slum area
Our Intervention
Bangalore Multipurpose Social Service Societyhas started samatva Vidhya, which means equitable knowledge. We are supporting children from marginalized and poor communities. If education is not provided by us, they will be involved in child labor and end up in the vicious cycle of poverty. Following are the interventions depending on the different socio-economic status of the communities.
- Bridge education when children could be admitted to government schools in the upcoming academic year.
- NIOS education when there is language or other barriers.
- Basic nutritional supply , drinking water facility, play materials, sitting mat, etc.
- Volunteer engagement for better social interactions and overall development of the children
