Counseling course for teaching staff of ABE
SAMALOCHANE- Counseling course for teaching staff of ABE was inaugurated on 06th September 2019 in Palana Bhavan, Archdiocese of Bangalore by Arch Bishop Most Rev. Dr. Peter Machado. The inaugural ceremony commenced with prayer song followed by the lightning of the lamp by the dignitaries- Arch Bishop Most Rev. Dr. Peter Machado, Fr. Prashanth, ABE Secretary, Dr, Aravind, Assistant Professor in NIMHANS and Mrs. Geetha, a participant. 30 school teachers and resource persons from different prestigious institutions were present for the ceremony.
Fr. Arun Santhosh formally welcomed all the dignitaries present on the dais and participants from various schools under the Archdiocese Board of Education. Arch Bisop Rev. Peter Machado in his address emphasized on the need to have more professional counselors for students in the schools. He wished for the success of the course and inspired the participants for professionally rewarding participation. Fr. Prashanth, the Secretary of ABE briefed about the importance of the course and the esteemed resource persons. Dr. Aravind and Fr. Prakash Soreng, the resource persons gave a short orientation to the topics.
The 100 hours counseling course for school teachers is organized by Archdiocese Board of education in collaboration with Bangalore Multipurpose Social Service Society. The objective of the course is to help the school teachers develop mutual understanding with their children, empower themselves to guide their students identify their interests, abilities, aptitudes, and opportunities and also to reduce depression and promote mental health among the students.
In the end, Fr. Naveen Kumar, director of BMSSS offered a vote of thanks to all the invited guests and participants for gracing the occasion by their solemn presence.
