International women’s day celebration was organized by BMSSS at Somajanahalli, Srinivaspura Taluk on 08th March, 2017.
The celebration began with a rally where more than 500 women took part in it. Sr. Nakshathra, MSW student of St. Joseph’s college hoisted the flag for the rally. The animators of BMSSS took active part and called slogans on women empowerment. Women carried pluck cards and actively participated in the rally making people aware about women oppression, giving equal right to women and strength of women.
The program began at 11.30 AM with the inauguration. Mrs. Nagarathna, ex president of district Panchayat was the president for the program. Mr. Manjunath Reddy, president of district Panchayat lighted the lamp and opened curtain for women’s day celebration. Mrs Soubhagya, advocate, Mr. Thimmarayappa, Member of Gram Panchayat, Fr. Joseph Naveen Kumar, Director Designate were present for the program. Awareness songs and importance of women in the society was very much highlighted in the form of songs. The SHG members shared their experience of working as small groups and the way they are earning money.
They appreciated the efforts of BMSSS for empowering them in many ways. The guest speakers also spoke about women issues, laws related to women, history of women’s day and encouraged them to fight aging the social evils. At last one SHG group submitted a petition to the president of district Panchayat on building samudaya bhavan in the local village which will be helpful for various activities. The program was ended with vote of thanks and with festal meal which was sponsored by the local leader.
The main organizers of the program are staffs of BMSSS namely, Mr Pushpalatha, Mr. Venkatarama reddy, Mr. Ramesh, and Mr. Reddappa. BMSSS remains grateful for their service in working for the empowerment women and bringing them to the main stream of life.
