World Suicide Prevention Day at St. Aloysius Degree College

Inter College Seminar (Role of Youth in HIV/ADIS Awareness and Prevention)

With the kind support of Kindersmissionswerk-Germany, BMSSS has been involved actively to create intensive awareness and education about HIV/AIDS among 60 high schools and 25 colleges in Bangalore City. The proposed project aims at reaching out to over 40,000 young high school aged between 14-16 from 60 high schools, and over 27,000 College students aged 16-21 from 25 colleges in the city. More

HIV/AIDS Prevention and Care of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHAs) in 14 villages in Bangarpet Taluk

With the financial support and collaboration with KROSS, “HIV/AIDS Prevention and care for the people living with HIV/AIDS in 14 villages of Bangarpet taluk is implemented for a period of one year with total budget Rs.2,55,600/- of which Rs.21,420/- is local contribution.

In order to develop a community based intervention with a few institution based support too aimed at reduction of risk of HIV transmission and enhances quality of life and life expectancy of people living with HIV/AIDS through providing care and support at the community level, institutional referral services and bringing them into the mainstream of community.

The Project aimed at: 1. 152 People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLHAs) and their families have access to health care, psycho-social and economic support and prevention services and Government service like ration card, Housing, free bus pass, nutrition food, medical treatment with stigma and discrimination.

2. 152 PLHAs (People Living with HIV/AIDS) and their families experience community based and home based support in 14 villages of 1 taluks of Karnataka.

3. 1, 5000 community members (women, men, youth, and children) in 6 panchayats to prevent themselves from contracting HIV/AIDS through sensitize by 227 SHGs in partnership with youth.

4. 78 Panchayat Raj Institution members, 981 Self help groups members, 24 Village Health & Sanitation committee members, 1,490 College students, 72 School teachers, 70 village leaders educated about HIV/AIDS, know to prevent, to provide care & support to the people living with HIV.

5. Develop linkages of Self-Help Groups with different organisations (PLHA networks, local NGOs, Karnataka State AIDS Control Society & media) to access HIV/AIDS services and advocate around the problems and concerns of positive people.

6. Build capacity of 2 of this project and 15 of other on going programmes staff total 17 staff of partner NGOs, 152 PLHAs and their family members, 12 health care practitioners, 72 teachers and 227 SHGs VHSC, SDMC and PRI members, leaders and 181 youth and community key leaders to mitigate the spread and impact of HIV/AIDS on individuals and families in the communities.
