Dear friends, Welcome! As Bangalore Multipurpose Social Service Society (BMSSS) started its charitable and developmental works in 1969, the organization will be soon celebrating its 50 years of service for the poor and the marginalized. We have come a long way from our small beginning as the Archdiocesan organization for development concerns.
Since many decades, we have been working for social, economic and political transformation of the deprived sections of community. Our efforts have been to see it empowered to lead a life of dignity and economic security. Our activities are guided by the organizational vision, mission and objectives. In all our works we keep in mind our following thrust areas:
• Child Rights Violations
• Gender discrimination
• Unemployment of the youth
• Illness and malnutrition
• Environmental degradation
Our operational area consists of the geographical area of the Archdiocese of Bangalore which covers six districts namely Bangalore Urban, Bangalore Rural, Tumkur, Kolar, Ramanagaram, and Chikballapur of Karnataka state. The organization currently implements projects in women empowerment to pursue our vision, mission and objectives. Our focus is on women and their empowerment through awareness, capacity building, leadership and entrepreneurship.
Our works among women have resulted into strengthened and capacitated women in terms of information and knowledge. We make the women aware about their own strengths and qualities. It has been a joy to BMSSS to form, strengthen, and facilitate members of Self Help Groups (SHGS) of women to become entrepreneurs. As the Director of BMSSS, I am proud to say that my office and field team has worked with full dedication, sincerity and honesty.
We are fully aware that we are not alone in our efforts to uplift the marginalized and the economically backward people. The backbone of BMSSS is our development partners overseas, the General body, the Archbishop of Bangalore, Volunteers and well-wishers. They have helped us in many different ways in the past decades, especially in times of crisis situations. In future, we plan to link ourselves with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to access more funds for development of the marginalized and the economically backward in districts covered by the Archdiocese of Bangalore.
